I take my Bible ala cart.

Amazing what happens, you hit "Next Blog" and you end up here:

Spiritual Pathways Ministries

Ok, I have a fascination with conservative christians... they are very funny people. Christians have this persecution complex, I don't get it. Christianity is fast approaching persecution levels and yet there are christians who feel that they are under attack for their beliefs.

Follow me for a moment, we will follow the cycle of religion:

1. Jewish faith is established, it becomes corrupt.
2. Jesus comes and denounces the Jewish religion for being corrupt. He is put to death and Christianity is born.
3. After surviving persecution Catholicism becomes a power religion and becomes corrupt selling indulgences.
4. Martin Luther nails the order of reformation to the door of the church in Wittenberg, he is marked for death and the Lutheran religion is born.
5. Modern day Pat Robertson prays that god destroy the heathens with hurricanes, supreme court justices get cancer and Hugo Chavez be assassinated.

Anyone see a pattern here?

Anyways one post on the aforementioned blog: Feminism talks about how feminism is attempting to destroy religon and cites passages in the bible that talk about women's roles in the church. So I had to reply:

Bible also says you should have multiple wives, slaves and slaughter animals as a sacrifice to god.

You can't dismiss certain parts of the Bible and then highlight others. Each part of the bible has to be treated equally and without contempt.

If any passage of the bible can be deemed inappropriate because of modern societal standards then EVERY passage of the bible can be held to the same standards.

You can't pick and choose your bible.

UPDATE
In the process of my comment discussions on the Spiritual Pathways Ministries the comments have since been delete and the ability to comment has been disabled to the general public.

You shouldn't allow commenting if you don't like the answers you get. I for one promise not to delete any comments I also promise to quote and criticise them.

Its only fair.

we could use an updated system of moral guides that doesn't involve pretending you believe, for example, that mary was a virgin.
